3 Autumn Nail Favourites

Today I wanted to share a few of my favourite nail polish colours for Autumn! I’ve spoken on here many times about my love of the colder months, so I’m happy to be sharing some darker shades with you. I find these shades always look good with a high gloss overcoat- my favourite one is from Nails Inc.

Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish in ‘335 Gimme Some of That’, £2.99: I wrote about this nail polish a couple of weeks ago, as part of my 3 Recent Beauty Buys. This is a lovely deep pink shade, that looks really classy- which is something that I often struggle to find when it comes to pink nail polish! It’s not like any of the colours in my collection and it often looks different in different lights, sometimes it has brighter hints of red and others more plum.

Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish in ‘310 Double Decker Red’, £2.99: It’s clear to say that I have been LOVING Rimmel nail polish recently and I struggle to go into Boots without picking up a new shade right now! They’re such a great price and I love the formula, it often lasts for AT LEAST 5 days on me which makes it perfect to wear for the week. This is more of a true red, its a little deeper though which makes it the perfect transitional shade for these early Autumn days.

Barry M Hi Shine Gelly Nail Paint in ‘Ginger’, £3.99: I actually featured this one in my Autumn nail favourites from last year and it’s really stood the test of time! I really love this unique shade that has a rusty red, burnt orange kind of colour to it. It basically matches the Autumn leaves! This formula has long been a favourite of mine, with its built in glossy finish, this is definitely a winner.

Battle of the Brow Gels

Today is another instalment of my recent make-up trilogy, which concludes with my current make-up routine on Friday at 10am! I have been loving getting back into make-up this year, after getting stuck in a rut with my it towards the end of last year, as I struggled to find products that I really enjoyed using. Glossier REALLY re-started my craving for gorgeous make-up, ugh it’s just all so wonderful. One of their best sellers is their ‘Boy Brow’, it was a no-brainer that I pick this up because one of my favourite make-up products for YEARS has been the Rimmel ‘Brow this Way’ mascara. SO I’m going to do a little comparison and chat about the two products today. FYI, I opted for ‘clear’ in both products!

Glossier Boy Brow:

  • Price: £14
  • 4 Shades: Clear, Brown, Black and Blond
  • Claims: ‘All-in-one brow fluffer, filler, and shaper’

The Glossier Boy Brow comes in quite dainty little packaging, perfect for travelling. It comes with a petite applicator, much smaller than the Rimmel one, and the gel is white in colour. It has quite a waxy consistency, but brushes clear as you comb it through the brows. Throughout the day, there is no crispy residue or white bits that I’ve sometimes experienced when trialling similar products. When you comb it through you can see the difference as it makes the brow hair look thicker and fuller!

Rimmel ‘Brow this Way’ Gel with Argan Oil:

  • Price: £4.49
  • 4 Shades: Clear, Dark Brown, Medium Brown and Blonde
  • Claims: ‘Shapes and fixes brows for a natural groomed, look’

This is a product I have been using for YEARS, it was a hidden gem that I found a while ago and have been constantly picking up ever since. The packaging has changed recently, so the clear one has white packaging now- nothing major. It is a bit bigger than the Glossier one and the brush has larger bristles- more like a smaller traditional mascara wand. It is clear in colour and when brushing it through your brows, it mainly distributes the hairs better and shapes the brow. I like this for like a quick absolutely ‘no make-up’ make-up look. Sometimes towards the end of a tube it can start to leave your brows a little crispy, but that is usually the signal to pick up another one. I really enjoy this for everyday use but I would say this one sometimes needs a brow pencil, to actually change the appearance of your brows more; the Glossier one is more likely to look better on its own.

Hopefully you’ve enjoyed reading about a comparison of two of my favourite brow products! Both of them have their good points and I love the way they work to simply enhance my natural brows. Obviously, the price is major difference and I don’t completely know if the Glossier one is 3x better in terms of quality… I would definitely pick it up again though! It has slightly different properties, as it tends to change the look of the brow rather than defining it like the Rimmel one. Using a clear brow gel is one of my favourite steps in my make-up routine, so it’s great to have found two lovely products to use!
